AWMF Announces 2026 Gracie Award Winners

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation reveals the winners of the 51st Gracie Awards in both national and local categories. National award winners will be honored at the Gracie Awards Gala at the Beverlyimg Wilshire on May 19. Local television, radio, and student award recipients will be recognized at the Gracie Awards Luncheon at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York on June 16. The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation announces the dates for the 51st Annual Gracie Awards. AWMF says the Gracies are “continuing a legacy of more than five decades recognizing the contributionsimg and achievements of women in media.” The Gracies Gala takes place May 19, 2026, at the Beverly Wilshire and the Gracies Luncheon happens June 16, 2026, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. WRHU Radio Hofstra Celebrates Gracie Honors

The student news team of WRHU-FM Radio Hofstra University earned two Gracie awards from the Alliance for Women in Media. WRHU general manager John Mullen says that the organization has the largest radio news team on Long Island with more than 60 student journalists. They earned the Gracie’s for WRHU-FM’s morning drive talk program and their live, locally focused half-hour afternoon drive news show. Jim Graci Retires from Cox Media Group Jacksonville

Programming pro Jim Graci announces his retirement from his role as brand manager for Cox Media Group’s news/talk WOKV-FM, Jacksonville. He posts to Facebook, “It was my dream to be on the radio since I was 10 years old.  After 50 years in the most spectacular communications medium there is, it’s time to call itim a career. I am retiring today!!! I have too many people to thank who have helped me, coached me, took me under their wing and guided me. Their tutelage allowed me to work at some of the greatest radio stations in the country. I have tried to ‘pay it forward’ by coaching and programming for the last 20 years, working with incredibly talented communicators, who continue to positively affect our lives whenever you turn the radio on. I want to thank the staff at my final station, WOKV-FM, as they prepare to protect, serve and inform Northeast Florida for another Florida hurricane season. I’d also like to spotlight Jules Riley, Jimmy Farrell, Pete Spriggs, Chris Eagan and Rob Babin at CMG, Cox Media Group, for their incredible leadership and faith in me in Jacksonville. But most of all, thanks to my wife Rebecca, a.k.a. Lindsey, who spent 25 years in the business, and has been my rock for nearly 40 of those 50 years.”

Hofstra Grad Student Receives Gracie Live on “The View”

Hofstra University grad student Fatima Moien won a 2023 Gracie Award for her work as the on-air talent for the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication’s “Live from Studio A.” The series brings influential media and communications professionals to campus to share their personal stories, advice, and wisdom with Hofstra students. 2023 Gracies Deadline Extended to January 23

The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) announces that the deadline to submit entries for the 48th Annual Gracie Awards is being extended through January 26, 2023 (11:59 pm ET). The regular deadline, with no additional fee, is January 19, 2023 (11:59 pm ET). The Gracie Awards, presented by AWMF, celebrate programming and individual achievement by, for and about women in television, radio/audio and digital media.  Submissions from all facets of media are encouraged. Curtis Sliwa Joins Larry Mendte for WOR Mornings

iHeartMedia news/talk WOR, New York announces that longtime NYC media personality Curtis Sliwa is joining the station’s morning drive show alongside Larry Mendte. “Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning” will debut on Monday (3/9) in the 6:00 am to 10:00 am daypart. Sliwa had been working for crosstown news/talk WABC but took leave to run for mayor of New York on the Republican ticket. He says, “It’s been four months since the end of the New York City Mayoral election and most places I go people have asked me to come back to talk radio, so that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to the best radio station in New York City, joining my friends of 30 years Mark Simone and Sean Hannity. It’s a full circle moment for me as my first radio station appearance for me was in 1971 when WOR’s Arlene Francis interviewed me as a kid, and I’ve been talking on the radio since.” Larry Mendte comments, “I couldn’t be more excited. Curtis is not only a legendary talk radio host, but an iconic New Yorker. What an honor to get to team up with him to get New Yorkers started every weekday.” The station adds that Gracie Award winner and 29-year WOR veteran Natalie Vacca will serve as executive producer for the new show.

SRN Announces New Midday Programs Replacing Charlie Kirk Show

Salem Radio Network reveals its plans for the 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm ET daypart previously occupied by the late Charlie Kirk. Effective January 5, Alex Marlow, editor-in-chief at Breitbart News, will anchor the 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm ET –1 p.m. ET hour, followed by Scottimg Jennings, CNN political commentator and longtime conservative strategist, who expands his current SRN program to 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET. Salem Media SVP of content Phil Boyce comments, “This is an important moment for Salem. Salem has earned the trust of conservative audiences for decades, and we don’t take that lightly. Scott Jennings and Alex Marlow each bring a distinct voice, a rare imgability to engage audiences, and real seriousness to the conversation. Together, they will carry the Salem legacy forward.” Meanwhile, “The Charlie Kirk Show” will continue as a podcast on Salem Podcast Network, and Salem Media will maintain its relationship with Turning Point USA. Executive producer Andrew Kolvet will continue as co-host of the podcast show. He says, “Salem has been so gracious through this process and even encouraged us to continue broadcasting the show on the Salem Radio Network. While ‘The Charlie Kirk Show’ team is excited to continue the live show and podcast in other venues, ultimately we agreed that Alex and Scott were the perfect hosts to take over on the radio portion. WRKO Raises $137k for Disabled Vets. iHeartMedia Boston’s news/talk WRKO raised $137,736 during the tenth annual DAV Radiothon to benefit the Disabled American Veterans Department of Massachusetts last Friday. WRKO personalities Jeff Kuhner, Chuck Zodda, Mike Armstrong, and Howie Carr encouraged listeners to donate and raise funds for the DAV of Massachusetts’ homeless shelter and transportation programs. Since 2016, DAV Radiothon has raised over $1,263,000 to benefit veterans in the community.

Cumulus Media’s KMJ-AM/FM, Fresno “NewsTalk 580/105.9 KMJ” recently partnered with local agriculture company GAR to present the 12th Annual Feeding Families Fund Drive and raised a record-breaking $534,917 for the Central California Food Bank. KMJ broadcast live from The Market in Fresno on September 19. Over the past 12 years the annual event has raised more than $35 million for the Central California Food Bank. Basilio Moves to WKGN, Knoxville

Sports talk host Tony Basilio is taking his radio program to MH2 Media’s WKGN-AM/W289CU, Knoxville.img He previously hosted his show on crosstown WJBE-AM. In making room for Basilio on WKGN, Bob Baskerville moved to afternoon drive to team up with Russell Smith in afternoons. Basilio says, “Bob has been really accommodating and gracious. WCBM Adds Ted Cruz Podcast. The Baltimore news/talk station adds Premiere Networks’ podcast starring Ted Cruzand Ben Ferguson. America Tonight Adds Affiliate. The nationally syndicated “America Tonight” program starring Kate Delaney adds new affiliate WVLK, Lexington, Kentucky “Newstalk 590 and 97.3 FM.”

Juju Chang to Host Gracies Luncheon. The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation announce that ABC News “Nightline” co-anchor Juju Chang is hosting the 50th Annual Gracie Awards Luncheon in New York City on Wednesday, June 18 at Cipriani 42nd Street. The Luncheon will also feature presenters including Arielle Chambers (ESPN), Boomer Esiason (WFAN), Medha Gandhi (iHeartMedia), Erica Hill (CNN), and Vicky Nguyen (NBC News).

WWO Presents College World Series. Cumulus Media’s Westwood One is the official network audio broadcast partner of the NCAA, and in conjunction with the NCAA Radio Network, will be home to the NCAA Division I Men’s College World Series Championship Finals, live from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska beginning June 21. Kevin Kugler will call all the action and will be joined in the booth by Scott Graham and field reporter Connor Happer.
