Podcast Radio Partners with Local Radio Networks

Podcast Radio, in collaboration with Krantz Media Group, signs a deal with Local Radio Networks that will make Podcast Radio’s spoken-word format available through the LRN delivery platform, allowing it to be ingested directly into each affiliate’s automation system. KMG CEO Gary Krantz states, “We are excited to expand Podcast Radio’s presence into Local Radio Network’s ecosystem. Together, we’re creating a new way for listeners to discover and enjoy the best in podcast content through the familiar and trusted medium of radio.”

Alpha Media Cuts More Staff in Midwest Markets

Alpha Media has laid off more staffers, this time in the Mason City, Iowa and Austin, Minnesota markets, according to KAAL-TV, Rochester, Minnesota. It’s unclear exactly how many positions have been eliminated but they are affecting news/talk KAUS-AM and country KAUS-FM in Austin as well asim operations in Mankato, Albert Lea, and Luverne, Minnesota; Watertown and Brookings, South Dakota; and Fort Dodge, Grinnell, Newton and Mason City in Iowa. Northern Iowa Today reports that in Mason City, KGLO sports director Tim Fleming has been let go as has KGLO and KRIB news director Bob Fisher, who comments, “Alpha Media is going a different direction with their radio stations in their smaller markets. A majority of the programming staff, including myself, were terminated this morning as part of that plan. This is not only happening here but throughout the country with their smaller markets.” After making similar drastic cuts in a number of its Missouri markets, Alpha Media struck a deal with UK-based Podcast Radio and will debut “Podcast Radio Missouri” on two stations there in the coming weeks. Alpha Media to Launch Podcast Radio in Missouri

Less than two weeks ago, Alpha Media made news after eliminating the entire on-air and programming staff at several of its stations in Farmington and Moberly, Missouri. Now we know what the company has in mind for at least two of those stations. Alpha Media is partnering with UK-based Podcast Radio to launch “Podcast Radio Missouri” on KREI-AM, Farmington on May 27 and KWIX-AM/FM, Moberly on June 17. The two companies say, “‘Podcast Radio Missouri’ will be featured across dayparts on the twoim stations, prominently acting as the morning show in both markets, offering a fresh and dynamic start to the day. This partnership marks a significant expansion of Podcast Radio’s format into the American radio landscape, promising to offer Missouri listeners a novel way to explore podcasting content through traditional radio. Listeners will hear top-quality podcast content from across North America and the world, while also giving airtime to local Missouri podcast content. Localized imaging and station IDs will feature across ‘Podcast Radio Missouri’ broadcast hours, which also include original interviews with podcasters. Gene ‘Bean’ Baxter acts as lead interviewer, delving deep into the methodology and personality of both local and national podcasts and their creators.” Alpha Media EVP of content Phil Becker says, “We’re excited to partner with Podcast Radio to bring this innovative format to our listeners in Missouri. This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering fresh, engaging content that resonates with our communities. While we are launching on one station in two Missouri markets, our goal is to expand the format to our other two Missouri markets.”

Study Says Podcast Listeners Favor Podcast Radio Concept

Podcast Radio reveals that a study by Coleman Insights concludes that 81% of respondents would be very likely or somewhat likely to listen to a radio station that broadcasts curated podcasting content. A description of Podcast Radio was tested via Coleman Insights’ Pod Predictor service. The appeal andim listener likelihood based on a description of Podcast Radio was measured among a panel of 500 18-64-year-old podcast consumers in the United States. Podcast Radio founder and CEO Gerry Edwards says, “Podcast Radio can help radio effectively play offense to the rise of podcasts as an in-vehicle, in-home and mobile entertainment choice. This new data reinforces that strong, engaging, spoken-word content continues to evolve in exciting ways to meet the needs of U.S. listeners. That can enable radio to remain competitive and provide an attractive alternative for radio stations and radio groups.”

Beasley Media Group Launches Podcast Radio U.S. Format in Four Markets

Beasley Media Group is partnering with Podcast Radio and KMG Networks for a new “podcast multiplatform radio format in four regions across the company.” Beasley says this unique format will be available to listeners via broadcast on WCSX-HD2/W228CJ, Detroit “Podcast Radio Detroit”; WJBR-AM, Tampa (formerly WHFS-AM) “Podcast Radio Tampa Bay”; WSOC-HD3/W234BY, Charlotte “Podcast Radio Carolinas”; and WXKB-HD2/W243BM, Fort Myers & W268AH/W286AK, Naples, Florida “Podcast Radioim Southwest Florida.” The stations can also be streamed and consumed as podcasts via PodcastRadioUS.com. Podcast Radio states, “Podcast Radio features live ‘Podjocks’, including former KROQ-FM, Los Angeles personality and legendary Radio Hall of Famer Gene ‘Bean’ Baxter. The format will showcase the very best produced and popular podcasts from the United States and all over the world, including audio content from TedAudio (TedTalk), Wondery, Evergreen, Corus, and more! The initiative with Beasley is the first of its kind for the company in the United States. The format will be offered to radio stations and groups on a network/barter basis via KMG Networks. Podcast Radio Announces New Production House

Podcast Radio announces that it is launching a new production house to “create, promote and distribute podcasts alongside its radio stations.” The company says, “The new venture will provide end-to-end bespoke podcast production solutions to brand partners worldwide. Suitable podcasts will be made and distributed on Podcast Radio itself and other platforms such as Apple, Spotify and Google. Podcast Radio will also provide promotional opportunities by way of advertising campaigns and on-air interviews with the podcast host or contributors.” Company founder and CEO Gerry Edwards adds, “This is a natural extension of what we do. We’ve made our own Podcast Radio Originals for some time, but we now want to extend our extensive production skills to brand partners as well.” Podcast Radio intends to take podcast content to radio listeners. It plans to begin distributing a 24/7 American version of its programming to radio stations and groups across the US beginning soon. To that end, it has partnered with New York-based KMG Networks to syndicate the programming.

KMG Networks to Distribute “Podcast Radio” to U.S. Stations

U.S. firm KMG Networks is partnering with UK-based broadcaster Tindle Media Group to serve as distributor for the American version of the radio station format “Podcast Radio” that is expected to commence in the spring of this year. Tindle Media Group says, “Podcast Radio launched three years ago in the UK and uses the trust and familiarity people have for their local radio stations to help them sample and choose from curated podcasts. Podcast Radio broadcasts 24/7 online and via app and smart speakers. It is monetized by selling traditional on-air advertising and sponsorships, inserting commercials into its online audio stream, partnering with international content makers, and making original podcasts and bespoke audio content that resonate with audiences.”
