Murphy Named to Executive Post at Crossover Media Group

Media sales executive John Murphy is named vice president of strategic partnerships for Crossover Media Group. The move marks a reunion for Murphy with members of the Crossover Media Group team, with whom he’s worked as both a partner and a client. Most recently, Murphy served as senior vice president of content monetization at Veritone. In his new imgrole with Crossover, Murphy will work to secure new content as well as to expand the company’s client portfolio. Crossover managing member Sue Freund says, “We’ve known and worked with John for many years; his excellent relationships throughout the content and advertising communities make him a tremendous addition to our team in building strategic partnerships with clients, agencies, and content providers as we continue to grow. Craig Carton Among NYSBA’s Hall of Fame Class of 2024

The New York State Broadcasters Association announces the addition of six inductees into the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame. This year’s class includes Craig Carton, who currently hosts the morningim show on FOX Sports 1 and the weekend program “Hello, My Name is Craig,” on WFAN, New York. Carton began his radio career on WGR-AM, Buffalo and rose to fame nationally as co-host of the WFAN, New York morning show alongside Boomer Esiason. Also being inducted this year is John Murphy, radio host, TV sports director and longtime radio voice of Buffalo Bills play-by-play. The induction ceremony will take place at the NYSBA’s gala luncheon in the Rainbow Room, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York City, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

The Buffalo Bills and Audacy’s sports talk WGR, Buffalo say that interim play-by-play announcer Chris Brown – who took over for John Murphy at the end of last season as Murphy recovers from a stroke – will continue in that role for the 2023-2024 NFL season.

Woodward Radio Group radio stations – including news/talk WHBY and sports talk WSCO in Appleton, Wisconsin – in partnership with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, hosted the 5th annual Combat Hunger event that raised money and food to provide 52,580 meals for veterans facing hunger in Wisconsin’s Fox Valley.
