Audacy Debuts “UPSTATE RED” Trimulcast

Audacy launches “UPSTATE RED,” a new conservative outlet that is broadcasting on three signals in the Greenville, South Carolina market. They are WYRD-AM at 1330, WORD-AM at 950 and WYRD-HD2 at 98.9 FM. Audacy also broadcasts conservative talk in the market on its sister station WYRD-FM “News/Talk 98.9 WORD.” Audacy Greenville-Spartanburg SVP andimg market manager Steve Sinicropi says, “We are proud to launch UPSTATE RED and bring a new conservative voice to the Upstate region. ‘UPSTATE RED’ will be a premier destination for principled conversation, insightful news, and engaging talk with some of the biggest names in national talk radio, providing the most important news and information to the Upstate.” The programming lineup includes Premiere Networks’ Glenn Beck, Clay Travis & Buck Sexton, Sean Hannity, and Jesse Kelly, as well as Michael DelGiorno in mornings, Westwood One’s Rich Valdes in late nights and FOX News Radio’s Will Cain.

Rob Brown Moves to AM Drive at “The Fan Upstate” in Greenville

Audacy’s sports talk outlet “The Fan Upstate” (WORD-AM/WFBC-HD3/W249DL/W246CV), Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina announces that “The Rob Brown Show” moves from middays to morning drive with CBS Sports Radio’s “Reiter Than You” with Bill Reiter taking over the 10:00 am to 2:00 pmim slot. Audacy Greenville is honored by the South Carolina Broadcasters Association with 11 2023 State Television and Radio Awards. Two of those awards went to talk personalities as Charlie James of news/talk WYRD-FM “989 WORD” won for Best News Talk Show and Rob Brown of WORD-AM/WYRD-AM “The Fan Upstate” won for Best Sports Show/Sports Talk Show.

FOX News Digital finished July 2023 delivering gains year-over-year with multiplatform views, minutes and unique visitors according to Comscore. July marked 10 consecutive months of FOX News Digital as the top news brand with multiplatform views and 29 straight months as number one with multiplatform minutes. Competitor CNN.com still leads in multiplatform unique visitors with 114.5 million (July 2023) to FOX News Digital’s 83.4 million.

South Carolina Talk Radio Pro Jim Burnside Dies at 80

WYFF-TV, Greenville, South Carolina reports that market talk radio pro Jim Burnside died on July 23 after a battle with cancer. The station reports, “Jim Burnside was an innovative radio talent, commercial writer and producer and mentor to many Upstate and national radio personalities… Jim is credited with bringing ‘Talk Radio’ to the Upstate in 1988, hiring Rush Limbaugh and Mike Gallagher to headline WFBC-AM. Later, the station’s call letters were changed to WORD-AM, and Burnside served as program director and station manager.” See the full story here.
