Red Apple Offers Freedom 250 Music Special

Red Apple Music Networks is making the program, “The Freedom 250 Special: Celebrating 250 Years of America” available to stations. The four-hour show is hosted by legendary radio great Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow and ’70s music star Tony Orlando. Red Apple says the show features “classic American anthems that pay tribute to freedom and resilience, the special spotlights the biggest hits from the most iconic American rock & roll artists from the ‘60s and beyond including: Neil Diamond, Aretha Franklin, The Ronettes, Chicago, The Commodores, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, Stevie Wonder, Lee Greenwood, Ray Charles, Tina Turner, The Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, and more.” Available to radio stations for barter, the first and third hours of “The Freedom 250 Special: Celebrating 250 Years of America” are hosted by Cousin Brucie, and the second and fourth hours are hosted by Tony Orlando.

Harry Hurley Charity Foundation Hosts 17th Dinner & Silent Auction

The Harry Hurley Charity Foundation held its 17th annual Charity Dinner & Silent Auction at Resorts Casino Hotel Atlantic City over the weekend and welcomed more that 300 guests to the event that featured guest of honor Republican nominee for governor of New Jersey Jack Ciattarelli. As usual, this annual charity event, hosted by WPG, Atlantic City morning host Harry Hurley, brings out the “Who’s Who” of New Jersey potentates from business and politics including hundreds of New Jersey legislators, county leaders, mayors, council members, and a broad section of business and industry leaders. It raised a record $82,000. Over the past 18 years, The Harry Hurley Charity Foundation has raised more than $2 million. Hurley tells TALKERS that next year’s guest of honor and keynote speaker has already been selected and it will be none other than the legendary Tony Orlando. WABC Gala to Raise Funds for Charities

WABC, New York and Red Apple Media owners John and Margo Catsimatidis are hosting a star-studded gala in celebration of America’s 250th birthday on Friday, September 5 at Cipriani’s 42nd St. in New York City. The Catsimatidis say the gala will serve not only as a celebration of freedom but also as a reminder of the resilience, ideals, and shared spirit that continue to define the United States. Proceeds from the galaimg event will benefit The WABC Radio Foundation, The Tunnel To Towers Foundation, The Police Athletic League (PAL), and Shriners Children’s. The evening will feature performances of patriotic songs including WABC Saturday evening personality and singer Tony Orlando performing “Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree”; Lee Greenwood performing “God Bless the USA” and America’s tenor Christopher Maccio will sing the National Anthem. Additionally, WABC personality Joe Piscopo will perform Frank Sinatra classics and station host Vinnie Medugno will sing oldies. The gala event will be hosted by 77WABC legendary air personality Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow.
