Alvord Joins Compass Media in Affiliate Sales

Compass Media Networks names Carter Alvord to the position of associate director of affiliate sales, sports & news/talk programming. Alvord is a 2026 Bucknell University graduate who’s imgbeen interning with Compass Media Networks since June 2024. In his new position he’ll assist with growth of the company’s featured play-by-play sports including NFL Football, NCAA Football & Basketball and heritage news/talk programming including “This Morning with Gordon Deal” and Erick Erickson. Alvord says, “Growing up listening to ‘Anna & Raven’ sparked my passion for radio. It is an honor to join Compass Media Networks, and I am thrilled to work shoulder to shoulder with Rob Blum and the rest of the affiliate sales team to super serve our affiliates and content partners.”

Mike Gallagher Honored on Food for the Poor Podcast

Salem Radio Network nationally syndicated talk host Mike Gallagher is honored on the newest episode ofimg international nonprofit relief organization Foor for the Poor’s podcast, “Beyond the Plate.” Gallagher is feted for the philanthropic spirit and the millions of dollars raised by him and his listeners – inspired by his late wife, Denise. Salem Radio Network VP/news & talk programming Tom Tradup states, “In addition to being one of America’s best talk show hosts, Mike Gallagher is literally second to none in tapping the generosity of his nationwide audience in fighting hunger and malnutrition by generating donations to nonprofits like Food for the Poor.” Listen to the podcast here.

Kevin DeLany Retires from Westwood One

Kevin DeLany, who served as vice president of news & talk programming at Westwood One, retired from the company on Friday (1/17). DeLany had not previously announced his intention to retire from theimg company as one Westwood One staffer called the exit a “surprise announcement” from him. DeLany is a Philadelphia native who, according to Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, was one of two staffers who remained with WWDB-FM, Philadelphia when it made the format change from jazz to talk. The other staffer was Sid Mark, host of the long-running “Sounds of Sinatra” program. DeLany would retain his connection to the program and Sid Mark after it moved from WWDB to WPHT. His work in network radio began as a producer at the Mutual Broadcasting System and he eventually rose to VP of news & talk at Westwood One where he managed 30 network news correspondents, anchors, editors and producers at the Westwood One newsroom in Washington, DC.
