New York Festivals Unveils the 2026 Radio Awards Shortlist, Showcasing Global Audio Excellence

The New York Festivals (NYF) 2026 Radio Awards unveils the 2026 Radio Awards Shortlist. NYF says, “Innovative audio storytelling from creators across six continents was carefully evaluated by the New York Festivals 2026 Radio Awards Grand Jury. This year’s shortlist reflects the breadth of the medium, featuring entries across audiobooks, podcasts, drama, imgdocumentary, breaking news, entertainment, and music, submitted by global networks, production companies, and independent storytellers.” Submissions of note include programs from Alabama Media Group, Bloomberg, CBS News, ESPN, NPR, and SiriusXM. Award-winning entries will be announced during the New York Festivals 2026 Storytellers Gala virtual event on May 21. The virtual event will include featured global audio and video highlights, award winners’ acceptance speeches from around the world, and up-close and personal spotlights featuring some of radio and television’s most respected storytellers. Australian Media Pro Joins New York Festivals Radio Awards Advisory Board

The New York Festivals 2026 Radio Awards announces that broadcaster and publisher of radioinfo and Radio Today Australia Steve Ahern joins the New York Festivals Radio Awards Advisory Board. NYFestivals says Ahern “brings more than four decades of leadership,img innovation, and influence across the global audio and broadcasting industry to the Advisory Board. His extensive experience will further strengthen the Radio Awards’ mission to honor groundbreaking storytelling and celebrate excellence across all genres of audio content.” New York Festivals EVP Rose Anderson adds, “Every year, we work with our advisory board and industry thought leaders to make sure that our categories recognize the innovative audio content being created today world-wide and reflect our commitment to the power of the individual voice. With Steve’s addition to the Board, we gain the 360-degree perspective of someone who is on top of all the new developments in the world of sound in our ever-changing and interconnected world.”

New York Festivals Opens 2026 Radio Awards for Entries

The New York Festivals 2026 Radio Awards is open for entries. In announcing this, the organization says, “The New York Festivals Radio Awards provides a global platform to honor creative storytellers. Since 1957, NYF has celebrated innovation and excellence in audio across every genre and platform. Each year, the competition evolves with new categories that reflect the future of audio-driven storytelling.” The 2026 Radio Awards welcomes entries across 14 category groups, from News Programs, Documentaries, and Talk Programs to On-Air Talent, Craft, and Entertainment. Specialized groups spotlight groundbreaking work in Digital, Podcast, and Audio Book content, while Programming Formats and Promotion/Open & ID celebrate the creative standards of radio. This year, the Radio Awards expands its reach with the introduction of the new Video Podcast category, reflecting the growing role of visual storytelling in audio-driven media. New York Festivals Radio Awards EVP and executive director Rose Anderson states, “For nearly seven decades, NYF’s Radio Awards has championed the art of storytelling across every platform. Each year we’re inspired by the creativity and innovation that push audio forward, and with the addition of new categories like Video Podcast, we’re proud to continue celebrating the evolving ways storytellers connect with audiences worldwide.” Through its partnership with the National Press Club, New York Festivals honors audio journalists and reporters who use their craft to shine a light on the stories that matter most.
