Seven Alumni Inducted into 2024 Hofstra Radio Hall of Fame

Hundreds of Hofstra alumni, students, faculty, staff, and administrators gathered to celebrate the induction of seven alumni into the University’s Radio Hall of Fame this past Saturday (10/19) at the Hofstra University Club on the school campus in Hempstead, NY. Over its 65 years, WRHU-88.7 (previously WHCH and WVHC) has won some of the industry’s most coveted awards, including four Marconi Awards for College Radio Station of the Year from the National Association of Broadcasters. Student reporters have won national and regional honors and worked alongside professional journalists in covering events ranging from political conventions, presidential debates, and inaugurations to the Super Bowl and major league playoff and championship games. At WRHU, Hofstra students create multiplatform live game content for Hofstra D1 teams and the NBA G League Long Island Nets. They produce and distribute all NY Islanders live NHL games to ESPN Radio NYC, SiriusXM, NHL.com, WRCN-FM, and WRHU-FM. Students also produce and perform on-air roles for the Long Island Ducks baseball franchise. Compass Media Groups Announces Promotions and New Staff

Compass Media Networks announces new hires and promotions throughout its various departments, including Advertising Sales, Affiliate Sales, and Creative Services along with Promotions in Advertising Sales and Finance. Marc Siegel joins the company to serve as director of audio sales/general manager of spoken word sponsorshipsim & activations. Recent Hofstra University graduate Kassandra Faber joins the company as associate director of affiliate sales. Recent Trinity College graduate Sydney Sperling joins as associate director of affiliate sales. Broadcast pro Jim Davison joins the company as project manager creative services subsidiary, Yamanair Creative. Four-year staffer Liane Sousa transitions from director of affiliate sales to account executive, advertising sales, and four-year employee Matt Wallach is promoted to accounting analyst.

Compass Media Networks Ups Sousa to Director of Affiliate Sales

Compass Media Networks promotes Liane Sousa to the position of director of affiliate sales. New York-based Sousa joined the company in 2019 and Compass says she’ll continue to manage and affiliate content partnerships for morning shows including “DeDe in the Morning” and “Anna & Raven” as well as “The Baka Boyz” Monday – Friday show and numerous weekend mix shows. Liane has recently added “The Frank Ski Show with Nina Brown” and John Tesh’s “Intelligence For Your Life” to her portfolio.
