WHO, Des Moines Announces “Emery on Iowa” Program
iHeartMedia names Emery Songer host of the 9:00 am to 11:00 am program on Des Moines’ “NewsRadio 1040 WHO.” The station says, “The ‘Emory on Iowa’ show features Emery Songer at the helm covering all
things Iowa from border to border. The show will explore community events around the state, discuss current and political issues and highlight amazing feats in and around Iowa. It will also feature experts in a variety of industries and discuss current exploits by the biggest movers and shakers in the Hawkeye State.” Songer also hosts the afternoon drive show on iHeartMedia’s KFAB, Omaha. Prior to assuming that role he produced the WHO morning drive show. He says, “I’m incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to connect with Iowans all over the state and beyond. I can’t wait to continue the rich heritage of these legendary radio stations and to celebrate the next chapter of WHO and WMT!”
on August 8 during the organization’s annual convention. Among the three 2023 inductees is former talk radio personality and current classical music KVNO-FM, Omaha morning host Otis Twelve. His radio career began in 1973 and in 1993 he became morning host at news/talk KFAB, Omaha. He served as a talk host on crosstown KKAR, Omaha from 1999 through 2001. He also served as a movie critic for TV stations KETV and then KPTM from 1984 to 1996.
“During that time, he has guest-hosted statewide news/talk programs as well as a regular weekend show, produced their daily morning show, worked with clients in a creative variety of ways, and spent countless evenings and weekends announcing local soccer and baseball games.” KFAB program director Scott Voorhees adds, “Emery will continue KFAB’s nearly 100-year-old tradition of on-air personalities who are passionate about connecting with the community we serve. It’s not about hammering an agenda; it’s about entertaining and relevant conversations of interest to Omaha/Council Bluffs and the surrounding area.”
