“The Girlfriends”’ Podcast Debuts

The Girlsfriends PodcastThe first episode of the weekly true crime podcast “The Girlfriends” aired yesterday (Monday, 7/10). It’s a collaboration among iHeartPodcasts; Novel; and NO MORE, a global nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence. iHP, Lea Pictures Announce Audio Deal

A multi-year collaboration between iHeartPodcasts and Bradley Cooper’s production company, Lea Pictures, will include several co-produced shows including Lea Pictures’ first audio project “The Good Stuff Podcast,” which debuted last month. Cooper will serve as executive producer for the entire slate which will be distributed by iHeartPodcasts. iHeartMedia Audio Group chief executive officer Conal Byrne comments, “Bradley is one of the great creators of our time, inventing and reinventing again and again how great stories are told across multiple genres and formats. We could not be more proud and excited to introduce his expertise, vision and approach to the exploding podcast medium with this partnership.” Hosted by One Tribe Foundation chief executive officer Jacob Schick and his wife, two-time Emmy award winning-storyteller Ashley Schick, the weekly “Good Stuff Podcast” delves into inspiring stories of success and perseverance.

iHeartPodcasts to Launch “The Whistleblowers: Inside The Trump Administration”

iHeartMedia announces that its iHeartPodcasts platform is dropping a new podcast series on July 13 titled, “The Whistleblowers: Inside The Trump Administration,” hosted by Miles Taylor. iHeartMedia says, “The Trump Administration was in large part defined by the chaos surrounding it – especially internally. The volatile rotationim of staff often meant instability and near-daily internal leaks to the press. Now, the new iHeartPodcast ‘The Whistleblowers: Inside The Trump Administration,’ co-produced with Best Case and Ark Media, will dive headfirst into the chaos to bring listeners the inside story of the people behind some of the most explosive government revelations in American history.” Taylor is a bestselling author and the former chief of staff of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He first wrote anonymously, but later revealed himself as the author after publishing the #1 bestseller A Warning in 2019. Each episode focuses on a different “whistleblower” including Reality Winner, Andrew McCabe, Alexander Vindman, Olivia Troye, Dawn Wooten, Grant Turner, and Stephanie Grisham.

iHeartPodcasts and Imagine Entertainment, the global entertainment company founded by Ron Howard and Brian Glazer, unveil “Big Sugar,” a new investigative podcast about the multimillion-dollar sugar industry. iHeartPodcasts says, “‘Big Sugar’ is a true crime story unlike any other that centers on the epic legal battle pitting the multimillion-dollar sugar industry against the migrant laborers who harvest sugarcane, while revealing corporate malfeasance, human rights violations, DC lobbying, nutrition downfalls and the destruction of the environment.” The series is hosted by Celeste Headlee, an award-winning, internationally recognized journalist and author who has hosted shows for NPR, WNYC and PBS.

SiriusXM announces it is launching a special pop-up channel dedicated to the world-famous Formula One Monaco Grand Prix and the Principality of Monaco itself, one of the world’s most glamorous locales and home to one of auto racing’s most prestigious events. The special channel will be available on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25. In a special SiriusXM broadcast event, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco sits down for a rare and wide-ranging one-on-one conversation in which he shares his insights into the Principality of Monaco, what makes Monaco’s Formula 1 Grand Prix so captivating for millions around the globe, Monaco’s future in F1, as well as some of the Prince’s other personal passions.

The nationally syndicated talk show “Free Talk Live” welcomes new weekend affiliate WNOS-AM, New Bern, North Carolina.

In three weeks (6/24), NPR White House correspondent/“NPR Politics Podcast” co-host Scott Detrow will become weekend host of the network’s “All Things Considered.” Vice president of news programming Eric Marrapodi comments, “With Scott at the helm, we’re going to be experimenting with the sound of the show and the way we produce it. We want to further integrate the ‘Consider This’ podcast with the weekend show. We also look forward to Scott bringing his original enterprise reporting on a range of topics. His experience on the White House beat had him chasing the president around the country and the world to bring our audiences great reporting with good humor. He’ll bring that same energy and commitment to bringing home stories for ‘All Things Considered’ audiences.”

“Choice Words With Samantha Bee” launched yesterday (Thursday, 6/2) via Lemonada Media. In her weekly podcast, the former host of TBS’ “Full Frontal” and correspondent for Comedy Central’s “Daily Show” will interview celebrities, politicians, and others about the choices they’ve made in their lives. Topics will reportedly range from what to eat for breakfast and which subway car to take, to who someone is voting for and what they do with their body. Bee’s initial guests were Judd Apatow and Rosie O’Donnell.

After debuting their “Aarthi and Sriram Show” in December 2020 on Clubhouse, technologists Aarthi Ramamurthy and Sriram Krishnan are bringing their weekly (Saturday) program to iHeartPodcasts. According to iHeartPodcasts president Will Pearson, “Aarthi and Sriram have created an impressive show featuring insightful conversations with top minds across industries. Kaleidoscope and iHeartPodcasts, in collaboration with the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), announces the launch of a new eight-part series, “Silenced,” that re-examines the murders of radio broadcasters in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood in the early 1990s. The murders were never solved, leaving a wound in Little Haiti that is still open to this day. iHeartPodcasts president Will Pearson says, “We are proud to collaborate with Kaleidoscope on their impressive slate of scripted podcasts. News/talk WTMJ, sports talk WKTI-FM “ESPN Milwaukee,” and talk WGKB-AM/W269DL “101.7 The Truth” will feature video streaming and repurposed video of each brands’ prime dayparts. They will be available on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

iHeartPodcasts and School of Humans debut “Sanctum Unmasked,” an eight-part podcast series that explores the secretive sex empire known as SNCTM. The series takes a nuanced, fun and comedic look into money, power and sex, set in the backdrop of Hollywood. It’s hosted by American writer, television host and producer Karley Sciortino, who is the founder of Slutever, a website that focuses on sex and sexuality.

Celeb Voices Adorn “Founding Son: John Quincy’s America” Podcast

iHeartPodcasts, Curiosity Inc., and School of Humans announce a new history podcast titled, “Founding Son: John Quincy’s America.” The show is hosted by musician Bob Crawford – bassist for The Avett Brothers – and features Patrick Warburton as John Quincy Adams, Nick Offerman as Andrew Jackson, and Grey DeLisle as Louisa Adams. The podcast tells the story of how John Quincy Adams went from a failed one-term president to an extraordinary ex-president. Additional voice talent includes filmmaker Ken Burns, CNN anchor John King, radio and CNN host Michael Smerconish, musician Scott Avett, and others. Audacy announces that Twin Cities news/talk WCCO-AM raised over $447,000 to benefit Second Harvest Heartland through its “Let’s Kick Hunger Day Radiothon.” The amount raised during the 14th annual radiothon held on February 2 brought the overall fundraising total to over $3.5 million since 2009.
