In three weeks (6/24), NPR White House correspondent/“NPR Politics Podcast” co-host Scott Detrow will become weekend host of the network’s “All Things Considered.” Vice president of news programming Eric Marrapodi comments, “With Scott at the helm, we’re going to be experimenting with the sound of the show and the way we produce it. We want to further integrate the ‘Consider This’ podcast with the weekend show. We also look forward to Scott bringing his original enterprise reporting on a range of topics. His experience on the White House beat had him chasing the president around the country and the world to bring our audiences great reporting with good humor. He’ll bring that same energy and commitment to bringing home stories for ‘All Things Considered’ audiences.”

“Choice Words With Samantha Bee” launched yesterday (Thursday, 6/2) via Lemonada Media. In her weekly podcast, the former host of TBS’ “Full Frontal” and correspondent for Comedy Central’s “Daily Show” will interview celebrities, politicians, and others about the choices they’ve made in their lives. Topics will reportedly range from what to eat for breakfast and which subway car to take, to who someone is voting for and what they do with their body. Bee’s initial guests were Judd Apatow and Rosie O’Donnell.

After debuting their “Aarthi and Sriram Show” in December 2020 on Clubhouse, technologists Aarthi Ramamurthy and Sriram Krishnan are bringing their weekly (Saturday) program to iHeartPodcasts. According to iHeartPodcasts president Will Pearson, “Aarthi and Sriram have created an impressive show featuring insightful conversations with top minds across industries. These two have built a highly engaged community. We are thrilled to welcome ‘The Aarthi and Sriram Show’ to iHeartPodcasts and help the show reach an even wider audience.”  

Free hourly, 60-second updates live from Wimbledon will be offered by Radio News Hub during next month’s tennis tournament (7/3 – 16). The John Cushing-hosted updates will be fed between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm (BT). Head of programming David Prever notes, “Wimbledon is one of the most highly anticipated events in the global sporting calendar and always serves in terms of drama, atmosphere, and sporting achievements.  Five-time Emmy winner Wayne Brady will receive the “Service to America Leadership” award from the National Association of Broadcasters Leadership Foundation during the Celebration of Service to America Awards next Tuesday (6/2) in Washington, DC. NABLF president/chief executive officer Michelle Duke remarks, “Wayne Brady’s multifaceted career has showcased his unique talent and hilarious personality on-screen, on stage and on-the-air to the delight of audiences for decades. The Seattle Seahawks announced today a multi-year extension with Bonneville Seattle Media Group to continue with “Seattle Sports 710 AM” and “KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM” as the official flagship radio broadcast partners of the Seahawks. Bonneville Seattle SVP and market manager Cathy Cangiano says, “For nearly 50 years, the Seahawks and KIRO have shared a unique partnership and today we are honored and excited to once again extend our commitment to broadcast the Seahawks throughout the Pacific Northwest. Kaleidoscope and iHeartPodcasts, in collaboration with the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), announces the launch of a new eight-part series, “Silenced,” that re-examines the murders of radio broadcasters in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood in the early 1990s. The murders were never solved, leaving a wound in Little Haiti that is still open to this day. iHeartPodcasts president Will Pearson says, “We are proud to collaborate with Kaleidoscope on their impressive slate of scripted podcasts. NASCAR and SiriusXM announce a multi-year renewal of their broadcasting agreement. SiriusXM will continue to deliver 24/7 NASCAR content to its subscribers, including live broadcasts of every race, plus daily NASCAR talk and interviews with voices across the industry through its exclusive SiriusXM NASCAR Radio channel.

Good Karma Brands’ Milwaukee radio stations are launching video stream capabilities. News/talk WTMJ, sports talk WKTI-FM “ESPN Milwaukee,” and talk WGKB-AM/W269DL “101.7 The Truth” will feature video streaming and repurposed video of each brands’ prime dayparts. They will be available on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

iHeartPodcasts and School of Humans debut “Sanctum Unmasked,” an eight-part podcast series that explores the secretive sex empire known as SNCTM. The series takes a nuanced, fun and comedic look into money, power and sex, set in the backdrop of Hollywood. It’s hosted by American writer, television host and producer Karley Sciortino, who is the founder of Slutever, a website that focuses on sex and sexuality.

Celeb Voices Adorn “Founding Son: John Quincy’s America” Podcast

iHeartPodcasts, Curiosity Inc., and School of Humans announce a new history podcast titled, “Founding Son: John Quincy’s America.” The show is hosted by musician Bob Crawford – bassist for The Avett Brothers – and features Patrick Warburton as John Quincy Adams, Nick Offerman as Andrew Jackson, and Grey DeLisle as Louisa Adams. The podcast tells the story of how John Quincy Adams went from a failed one-term president to an extraordinary ex-president. Additional voice talent includes filmmaker Ken Burns, CNN anchor John King, radio and CNN host Michael Smerconish, musician Scott Avett, and others. Crawford – who recently got his Master of Arts in History – says, “John Quincy Adams is THE most important historical figure that no one knows about. He is the bridge between Washington and Lincoln. — ESPN and SiriusXM are teamed up to give listeners nationwide access to ESPN’s live audio coverage of select UFC events on SiriusXM’s Fight Nation channel. Subscribers will hear the live call from the UFC audio on ESPN networks. ESPN vice president Matt Kenny states, “We are constantly looking for new ways to give fans more access to our content. SiriusXM’s expansive reach will help us bring the excitement of UFC to a broader audience and provide additional ways for these very passionate fans to stay connected to the action.”

— iHeartMedia announces that new episodes of the program “Navigating Narcissism with Dr. Ramani” are available on its iHeartPodcasts platform. The podcast is hosted by clinical psychologist Dr. Ramani Durvasula and focuses on narcissism and its impact on relationships. iHeartmedia says, “Through powerful conversations with survivors and experts, Dr. Ramani breaks down classic patterns of narcissistic abuse including love bombing, gaslighting, control and manipulation to help millions who are suffering. A new season of “How to Citizen with Baratunde” is set to launch on the iHeartPodcasts Network. Baratunde Thurston is executive producer and host of PBS’s “America Outdoors with Baratunde.” This podcast series is described as the program “for people tired of tuning in to bad news and looking for new and better ways to ‘citizen’ – as a verb. Through meaningful conversations and insightful moments, Baratunde shows listeners how to wield their collective power to make the world a better place.” iHeartMedia says, “This season, Baratunde focuses on how to create a culture of democracy in communities, workplaces, homes and within the listener themselves. Ice-T Launches Daily Game on iHeartPodcast

Actor and hip hop legend Ice-T is debuting a new podcast series with the help of Audity and iHeartPodcasts. “Ice-T’s Daily Game” will feature Ice-T sharing words of wisdom “gleaned from life experience and his journey from the gang-filled streets of Los Angeles to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.” The series will consist of profound three- to five-minute long messages each weekday. Ice-T says, “I’ve always enjoyed sharing motivational quotes and words of wisdom to help people better their lives. I started sharing quotes on social media and my fans loved it so much, they wanted me to share it daily. Through this new podcast with iHeartPodcasts, I hope these quotes will reach the right people and bring them up to speed on the daily game of life.”

Through its partnership with BetMGM, Audacy’s BetQL Network will broadcast exclusively from the new BetMGM Sportsbook in Glendale, Arizona this week. The sportsbook is located next to State Farm Stadium, site of this year’s NFL Super Bowl. Audacy president of sports Mike Dee says, “We’re proud to leverage our partnership with our friends at BetMGM to bring sports bettors and our listeners over 50 hours of live, premier audio content – more than any other sports betting network – to get them ready for the biggest game in American sports.”

iHeartPodcasts and Storyglass are launching a new, eight-part podcast series, “False Profits: Hillsong,” a journey that dives into the Hillsong experience – “from Christian rock music to celebrity pastors and famous fans, to global status, enormous wealth, and shocking scandals. This series traces the rise and fall of Hillsong’s founder and peels back the layers of a culture of submission, exploitation, and discrimination.”

Audacy announces that Twin Cities news/talk WCCO-AM raised over $447,000 to benefit Second Harvest Heartland through its “Let’s Kick Hunger Day Radiothon.” The amount raised during the 14th annual radiothon held on February 2 brought the overall fundraising total to over $3.5 million since 2009. Audacy Minneapolis SVP and market manager Jeff Gonsales says, “Year after year, our fans open up their hearts to those in need. Lives are being impacted in significant ways, and we are incredibly grateful.
