Shuttered CBS News Radio Honored for Overall Excellence from RTDNA
Pictured above are 25 former CBS News Radio staff onstage at New York City’s Gotham Hall during Monday’s Radio Television Digital News Association Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala. Five months after CBS closed the radio news department it was honored with national awards for Overall Excellence and Best Newscast in the Network Radio category (CBS World News Roundup: Plane Crash at DCA). Several of the honorees held up signs reading, “Fired for Overall Excellence.” The group received a standing ovation from the journalists in the room.
