Mark Kaye Raises $11k for Charity Selling Gold Sneakers

WOKV-FM, Jacksonville-based, nationally syndicated talk host Mark Kaye (above left) raised $11,000 for his “Kaye’s Kids” charity – a special times program of Dreams Come True, Inc. and provides dream gifts, trips, and vacations to young children battling life-threatening illnesses in the North Florida area. Kaye created his own pair of golden high-top sneakers called “Kaye’s Kicks” after seeing Donald Trump’s new line of “Never Surrender” high-top sneakers. Using some gold metallic spray paint, stencils, and other patriotic accessories, Kaye and his producer Hannah Guile (above right) transformed a pair of old black Pumas into a one-of-kind golden pair of “Kaye’s Kicks.”

This year, all 168 Wendy’s restaurants in Southern California continued their partnership and offered customers the opportunity to donate. KFI program director Robin Bertolucci says, “Once again, the KFI audience has come through with incredible generosity and kindness. This is our 13th year and every year we are touched by the giving spirit of KFI listeners. A huge thank you to them and to our partners, Smart and Final and Wendy’s for giving our listeners another way to give back to the community.”
