Kirby and Raphael Join Media Institute Board. Media pros Kathleen Kirby of Wiley Rein LLP and Heidi Raphaelof Beasley Media Group are elected to the board of trustees of The Media Institute. The Media Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization specializing in communications policy and the First Amendment.

Baltimore Public Media Names New Program Director. Baltimore Public Media names Maxie C. Jackson III program director in which he’ll oversee content strategy and programming across WYPR 88.1 FM, WTMD 89.7 FM, and Your Public Studios. Jackson most recently served as executive director of 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, “where he led transformative programming and format strategies that inspired philanthropic investment, drove audience growth, and strengthened the organization’s cultural impact.”

The WBUR Festival Returns This Spring. WBUR, Boston announces the return of The WBUR Festival happening Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30, 2026. The event features “speakers, captivating conversations, musical performances, multiple stages and a vibrant street scene along Commonwealth Avenue.”

Season 11 of Katie Couric Podcast Debuts. iHeartMedia announces season 11 of the podcast, “Next Question with Katie Couric.” In this podcast, Couric talks with politicians, DC insiders, and journalists to uncover what’s worth attention (and what’s not). In the first episode, Couric speaks with journalist, documentary filmmaker, and best-selling author Chris Whipple, whose latest book “Uncharted” captures the human drama behind the 2024 election.

Irby Promoted at Baltimore Public Media. The corporation that operates non-commercial outlets WTMD and WYPR in Baltimore announces Danyell Irby is promoted to chief of content for both stations. Most recently, Irby served as executive director of news at WYPR, joining the organization’s leadership team in April 2020. Prior to that, she held multiple editorial and leadership roles at NPR, including anchor, editor, and senior supervising producer of newscasts.

Baltimore Public Media and KMG Networks announce that “The Good News” with Dr. Benjamin F.  Chavis Jr. will air on public radio outlets WYPR and WTMD. KMG says, “‘The Good News’ is a daily radio commentary and headline news review hosted by the journalist and civil rights icon, offering fresh, timely, unique and brief perspective on the headline news of the day across America and throughout the world.”

iHeartMedia Pittsburgh announces an extension of its audio agreement with the Pittsburgh Steelers which will have iHeartMedia powering the newly created “Steelers Audio Network” through the 2028 season. The “Steelers Audio Network” will feature game day broadcasts, ancillary programs, digital audio (Steelers Nation Radio), podcasts and social media content. Listeners can hear the “Steelers Audio Network” and its programming year-round across a variety of platforms including WDVE-FM, WBGG-AM “FOX Sports Pittsburgh” (970AM), Steelers Nation Radio, the Steelers mobile app, the iHeartRadio mobile app, as well as the team and station’s websites. The partnership also includes promotional support across all six iHeartMedia Pittsburgh stations and websites.

“The Stephen A. Smith Show” moves from Audacy’s Cadence 13 to iHeartMedia’s iHeartPodcast Network for distribution. The show is produced by Smith’s Mr. SAS with Smith serving as executive producer.

Hannah Brummer joins TM Studios’ affiliate relations department serving under senior affiliate relations director Steve Kaufman.

Baltimore Public Media officially launched yesterday (2/26). The move unites radio stations WYPR and WTMD under a single, dynamic umbrella branded “Your Public Media” more than three years after the November 2021 acquisition of WTMD-FM from Towson University. Currently serving as president and GM for the company is former CBS News Radio vice president and general manager Craig Swagler.

Beasley Media Group promotes Luis “Speedy Jr” Gonzalez to director of video and audio production for its Tampa Bay cluster.
