He didn’t invent the “angry talk host” but he damn near
perfected it. There isn’t a talk radio lover in the country who
hasn’t heard the phrase, “Get off of my phone!” come
out of the radio speaker from the mouth of Bob Grant.
During an amazing run on WABC which started in the late 1960s and lasted
until 1996, Bob Grant was the picture of the high-strung, acid-tongued,
conservative New Yorker. Shortly after his dismissal from WABC in the
aftermath of a racial controversy in which his tongue became embroiled,
WOR signed him on for afternoon drive in the Big Apple and put him into
syndication for a while via the WOR Radio Network.
While his preferred topic is politics and the dirty doings of public figures,
he also takes on social issues and water cooler topics.
Bob Grant is a past recipient of the prestigious National Association
of Radio Talk Show Hosts Freedom of Speech Award.
